From industrial organizations to printing enterprises and their employees, the Japanese printing industry often places green printing in an important position. The industry organizations of printing and related industries in Japan are relatively sound, and various associations, societies, research associations and federations play an important role in the development of the industry.

In view of the characteristics of Japanese printing industry management, the promotion of environmental protection in Japan's printing industry has undoubtedly played a more comprehensive role besides the national level organizations. It mainly includes three certification systems.

The All-Japan Printing Industry Consortium has been preparing the certification system of Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS) for printing enterprises since 2010, and has set up a CRS Promotion Professional Committee to implement it. The CRS certification system was officially launched in 2013, and the first batch of 40 recognized enterprises was released on June 25.

The purpose of CRS certification is to promote its member enterprises to strengthen their social responsibility. The specific measures for enterprises to undertake social responsibility are assessed from eight aspects: compliance, environment, information security, quality, employment relationship/labor safety, finance/performance, social contribution/geographical orientation, information disclosure/exchange. Among them, compliance, environment and information security are the most important assessment indicators. One-vote veto system. CRS certification is divided into three levels: 1 star is the basic level, 2 star is the higher level, and 3 star is the highest level. 1 star certification is mainly through the enterprise self-declaration document review, 2, 3 stars need to go to the enterprise site audit.

Environmental Printing Certification System of Ice Angel Logo

In addition to continuously improving the environmental protection printing certification system of Ice Angel Logo, Japan Advancement Printing Environmental Protection Association is actively promoting digital printing certification and carbon dioxide reduction contribution certification.

At present, the environmental protection printing certification system of Ice Angel Logo only aims at rotary offset printing and sheet-fed offset printing, with three levels of "silver, gold and gold +". The certification procedure of Ice Angel Logo is very simple. E3PA members or associate member enterprises can use Ice Angel Logo as long as they produce offset prints in accordance with the standards of environmental protection printing certification of Ice Angel Logo, after the Ice Angel Logo Environmental Protection Printing Certification Review Committee has filed for the record.

Certification System of "Green Printing Marks"

The Japan Printing Industry Federation has been planning to formulate green printing standards since the end of the last century. In August 2001, it issued the first green printing standard, Nippon Printing Association's "Offset Printing Service" Green Standard. Since then, it has introduced various green printing standards, and constantly revised and improved them in accordance with the new environmental requirements of printing. At present, Japan Printing Industry Federation's "Green Printing Logo" has formed a very complete and meticulous standardization system from standard to certification and assessment, and then to award.

The green printing certification system of Japan Printing Industry Federation is divided into three categories: green printing factory certification, green printing product certification and green printing equipment certification. Corresponding "Green Printing Signs" is divided into three grades: 1 star, 2 star and 3 star. The more stars, the higher the environmental protection level.

The certification standards are divided into offset printing service, label printing service, gravure printing (soft packaging) service, screen printing service and so on. Each green standard has supporting implementation guidelines and operation manual for green certification. The latest revision of the four green printing standards was issued on April 25, 2013, and began to be implemented on October 25, the same year. The corresponding principles and standards have been formulated for equipment procurement, printing technology and enterprise environmental protection countermeasures. As of July 2013, 295 enterprises had passed the green printing factory certification of Japan Printing Industry Federation, including 239 in offset printing, 39 in gravure printing, 3 in screen printing and 14 in label printing. A total of 387 products of 24 printing equipment suppliers had passed the green printing equipment certification.
